Day 20 – Closing Ceremonies

02 Mar

Closing Ceremonies

As our time comes to a close so do the Olympics. Tonight’s Closing Ceremonies were, we have to admit, a bit anticlimactic compared to the spirit of the games. Most US Athletes had gone home, the speeches were flat, and the theatrics were over the top and seemed to be lacking heart. The parade of inflated Canadian icons was embarrassing and belonged in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade NOT at the Olympics. We watched it on the HUGE Team USA House screen surrounded by press, former Olympians and ate lobster, sushi, exotic cheeses and desserts. Although the performance was a disappointing, being at Team USA house was a great way to end the experience. However, the most fun was on our walk home and being surprised by a spectacular fireworks show and the subtle remarkable cloud formations we’d ever seen. Mother Natures gets the gold for special effects!

Well since you mentioned it, I, too, was dissapointed in the Closing Ceremonies. While certainly not comparable to fireworks (which I always love) and cloud formations (Love that too), there was a really good tv priogram on afterward with Jerry Seinfeld. Made me laugh outloud – always good.
